No verbal orders from politicians: Supreme Court order for babus
The Supreme Court today said IAS officers should not take verbal orders from their political bosses, and ordered landmark reforms to insulate the bureaucracy from victimization. The court also asked for a law to check arbitrary transfers of officers, in a verdict seen as a big step towards giving officials some breathing space from political control.
