The BJP could announce Narendra Modi as its Prime Ministerial candidate within the next month or so, with party president Rajnath Singh indicating that the party's choice is clear. But the murmurs of dissent, within what has come to be known as the Anti-Modi camp, are still voluble. Now, veteran leader Jaswant Singh, believed to be close to LK Advani, says now is not the time to ask whether he will support Modi as the candidate for the top job. Jaswant Singh has said that the clamour for a PM candidate before the elections is a new phenomenon. This despite the fact that in both 2004 and 2009 the NDA had declared PM candidates well before the campaign kicked off.
