47-year-old Sanjay Jat was only 2 kms away from Kedarnath temple when the disaster struck on June 16. The brave Revenue Inspector from Jabalpur led his 70-member group to safety. Two days later, when an Army rescue team arrived, Mr Jat decided to stay back and help in the rescue operations.
