A week after the notes ban, rural India, a cash-driven economy now starved of cash, is struggling - for seeds to sow, labourers to pay and even to buy food. While many across India's villages are confident that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's move to ban Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 currency notes will hit the black economy and pay off in the long run, for many others, daily subsistence has become a struggle.
