Jermegini and her family had to move to India during the Civil War in 1990. Overnight they had to leave their house, work and land. In 1997, when they decided to move back, their house was gone so they had to live in a thatched hut. While she was studying Business Management in India, she came across the Usha Silai School programme. After joining the programme she started to earn ₹30,000 per month, which ensured she recovered from her financial crisis.
