Former cricketer Dean Jones has said that the Australian cricket team needs some new thinking amidst a spiralling crisis in recent months. Speaking to NDTV on the aftermath of the team's 2nd Test defeat to South Africa, Jones said that the standards of the Sheffield Shield, the country's domestic first-class cricket competition, had dropped in recent times. In the same discussion, ESPN Cricinfo's Melinda Farrell commended skipper Steve Smith for putting up a fight with the bat as his teammates crumbled under pressure. Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra, meanwhile, said that the Australians would continue to struggle during their tour to India later this season.
