Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna. The scheme is being described by the Modi government as the world's largest health insurance scheme. Under the programme, nearly 10 crore economically backward families or about 50 crore individuals will be entitled to insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh each. 31 states and union territories are implementing the programme which will become operational from September 25, the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay.
