In his first visit to the North East after President's Rule was imposed in Manipur, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said during a public programme in Assam's Dergaon that Prime Minister Narendra Modi restored peace in the state, developed infrastructure and ensured employment for the young population. Shah was speaking after inaugurating the state-of-the-art Lachit Barphukan Police Academy, named after the Ahom warrior who defeated Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
