On Monday, in a significant move reflecting his government's commitment to the safety and prosperity of all, including minority communities in the country, Prime minister Narendra Modi participated in Christmas celebrations hosted by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India. Now the CBCI is the top body that looks at the working of all catholic churches in the country. Five cardinals, the senior most archbishop of India, and several prominent members of the Christian community were present at this event. Congress has called it a sham.
How should one look at the Prime minister's engagement with the Christians - he has been at it for many years now? Is an effort to facilitate a dialogue, a confidence building measure, something that all leaders must be doing - is that being vilified by some for no reason? Or should the BJP do more to address this.
