Sharing her experience of drafting the Union Budget 2025-26, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the motive was to make direct tax simpler, easy for compliance. In an exclusive interview to Vijay Joshi, Editor-in-Chief, PTI, the Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was fully behind the idea to cut taxes but it took time to convince the bureaucrats.
