In Parliament, the Opposition has, as expected, attacked the government over Dinesh Trivedi being forced to resign as Railways Minister before his Railways Budget could be discussed by Parliament. The BJP said the Prime Minister must address Parliament to explain the chain of events that led to Mr Trivedi's exit - he quit last night. Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee replied that Mr Trivedi's resignation has been received and that the Prime Minister is considering it. "When a decision is made, it will be shared with the House," he said.
