From detention to dialogue, members of what Home Minister Amit Shah once called the 'Gupkar Gang' today met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Many of those leaders, including Mehbooba Mufti, Omar Abdullah and Farooq Abdullah - all former Chief Ministers - spent between 6 months and a year in detention after the Centre took away statehood and removed Kashmir's special status in August 2019. Today, 14 of the top Kashmiri leaders were told by the Prime Minister that he remains committed to the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
