A look at the report of Arvind Subramanian who till just a year back was the Chief Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister. In his report, Dr Subramanian said that India's GDP was not growing at 7%. It was in fact growing at closer to 4.5 per cent, he said. That report resulted in howls of protest with some calling the report entirely incorrect. Though there are those who believe that India's economic growth has been overstated and that the sanctity of statistics generated by arms of the government need a re-look. So, is Dr Subramanian's analysis based on cherry picked data or is there something there?
