The southern Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are grappling with one of the most severe flood situations in recent history, as continuous rainfall has inundated many villages and towns, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Over the past 72 hours, the deluge has claimed at least 35 lives, displacing hundreds of thousands, and has inflicted damage estimated to run into thousands of crores. In fact, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was on a JCB to assess the situation in Andhra Pradesh. He has called it the biggest disaster he has witnessed in his life. This matter has however taken a political turn, with YSRCP chief and former Chief Minister Jagan Reddy squarely blaming the State government for flooding Vijayawada to protect Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's residence on Karakatta from being submerged. what led to the floods in the Telugu speaking states this time?
