Close on the heels of Pope Francis announcing that 'Christians have to make many apologies' to members of gay and marginalised communities, the Supreme Court of India, will hear a new petition challenging the constitutionality of the draconian, colonial Section 377. The section in the Indian Penal Code considers all forms of sexual intercourse 'against the order of nature' a criminal act that invites punishment. The Archdiocese of Bombay, Cardinal Oswald Gracias has long been an advocate for gay rights. On Agenda - he speaks of the need to decriminalise gay sex.
