Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a strong offensive against the Congress over its failure to fulfil promises after winning elections. Citing examples of Congress-ruled Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana, he said developmental and fiscal indicators in the states have gone from "bad to worse". This comes on a day when Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge advised the Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the state Congress leaders to ensure that any guarantees or welfare schemes announced are financially feasible.
