A leading biomedical company has launched a project (Avestagenome project) that aims to build a genetic and medical database of the Parsi community in India. Over the next two days a team will be in Navsari village on the Maharashtra-Gujarat border, home to a huge community of Parsis, to collect blood samples. The project aims to build a genetic and medical database of the community to establish the linkages between genes and disease, and environmental factors that impact them.
