Protest In Mumbai Against Decision To Turn Sacred Jain Site Into Tourist Spot
Members of the Jain community are protesting in Mumbai's Azad Maidan demanding that the Jharkhand government withdraw a 2019 notification designating Parasnath Hills as a tourist place. Shri Sammed Shikharji in Parasnath Hills in Jharkhand's Giridih district is home to the state's highest peak but it's also the biggest pilgrimage destination for the Jain community. They are concerned the decision will jeopardise the sacredness of the site.
