Public money, private uses?

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar is at the centre of a controversy after her former residence was turned into a memorial for her father, freedom fighter Jagjivan Ram. This, despite a Cabinet decision in 2000 which said that no bungalow in central Delhi would be converted into a museum due to a lack of housing for officials. Now, former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati's is under fire after a mind-boggling 86 crores of taxpayers' money was spent on renovating her official bungalow in Lucknow.
