It has been exactly one week since the horrific terror attack in Pulwama in which 40 CRPF soldiers were killed. In the last one week, there has understandably been a lot of anger and emotion. Terrorism emanating from Pakistan has bled India for decades, but what we have also seen in the last one week is the people of India turning on each other instead of coming together. Kashmiri Muslims from different parts of the country, students in particular, have reported feeling intimidated and threatened. There are reports of VHP and Bajrang Dal-led mobs allegedly forcing colleges to tell Kashmiri students and professors to go back home. A man who holds a constitutional post, the governor of Meghalaya, disgraced his position by calling for a boycott of everything Kashmiri. On social media, journalists, liberals, the opposition - everyone is the target of vile abuse by the right wing. So tonight, we decided to make an appeal - it is time for India to unite, for our sakes.
