The question of whether Bikram Singh Majithia, one of the top leaders of the Akali Dal is or is not embroiled in the drug trade has shaken up Punjab's politics. It began when Arvind Kejriwal apologised to Mr Majithia for accusing him of being a "drug lord" in exchange for Mr Majithia withdrawing the defamation case against the Delhi Chief Minister. AAP's Punjab unit is in turmoil and resignations have followed. However, the Congress government in the state says that they are determined to pursue the case and see to it that perpetrators of drug trade are punished.
