Delhi's Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Verma today conducted an inspection of cleanliness initiatives at the Yamuna ghats, expressing optimism about the river's future. He announced plans for the comprehensive redevelopment of a 48-kilometer stretch of the Yamuna, which will transform the area into a green zone featuring jogging paths, picnic spots, and small eateries. Verma highlighted the government's commitment to combating river pollution, stating that stricter regulations will be enforced to deter industries from discharging waste into the Yamuna. Heavy fines will be imposed on violators to ensure the river's restoration and promote activities like boating and jogging along its banks within the next 3 to 3.5 years.
