Congress MP Rahul Gandhi today took over as Leader of the Opposition in the lower House. This is a position that was vacant for the past 10 years because no Opposition party met the minimum strength criterion for the post. Rahul Gandhi, credited for a resurgent Congress , once known as a part time politician is now all set for a new role. And the optics of it today, after the speaker was elected, Rahul Gandhi shaking hands with the Prime minister, wishing the speaker success, and later reminding him that the speaker's post has to be beyond bipartisan politics, shows he is gearing for that role. A role that sees him representing the whole opposition. Now , that is going to be challenging as well, as the INDIA bloc has often had multiple serious disagreements.
