Raids: Anti-Corruption Or Anti-Opposition?

The Income Tax raids on opposition leaders like Lalu Yadav, Congress leader from Karnataka DK Shivakumar, and the questioning and incarcerating of Trinamool lawmakers for 'alleged' involvement in Saradha chit fund case and Narada sting case in West Bengal has had opposition accusing the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre of carrying out vendetta politics. The opposition's charge is that the central investigative agencies are not showing the same alacrity when it comes to pursuing cases against BJP leaders - Vyapam Scam against the Madhya Pradesh government, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for their alleged help to businessman Lalit Modi in evading arrest and leaving the country. The BJP, however, claims that central agencies have possession of 'substantial' documents to prove that these cases against the opposition leaders were not politically motivated. Do investigative agencies act according to the wishes of their political masters? Has it become a norm for the government of the day to use these agencies against political opponents? The other important issue currently raging in Kerala are political murders where scores of RSS-BJP, CPM, Congress and IUML workers have been murdered as a part of vendetta politics. Is there a way to put an end to it?
