The Reserve Bank of India Governor, YV Reddy, said on Monday that the hike in inflation has come on account of crude oil and the bank is in midst of "intensive" examination of options. Speaking at a function in Pune, Reddy said that the high level of energy prices may not be temporary and the price pressures are due to pass-through of oil prices. He said that there is need to manage the oil shock and adjust to the new realities.
