To strengthen cybersecurity measures, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced on Friday that Indian banks will have the exclusive internet domain name ‘bank.in,’ while non-bank financial entities will use ‘fin.in.’ Unveiling the final bi-monthly monetary policy of the financial year, RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra stated that registrations for ‘bank.in’ will begin in April 2025. The new domains aim to enhance trust in the financial sector, as the central bank expressed concerns over the rising incidents of fraud in digital payments.
