Christmas should ideally be all be about festive cheer and shiny, happy things. And yet for the Christian community of Satna and Jhabua in Madhya Pradesh, it is a dark period. Many are not celebrating their biggest festival because they say that the community is being targeted. Thirty carol singers were detained by the Madhya Pradesh police in Satna, the Bajrang Dal set their vehicle on fire and at the end of it one of the carol singers was charged under the state's religious freedom law because one of the choir members was accused of being part of group engaging in conversions. Harassment was also reported against Christians in other parts of the country as well.
