Reality Check: Assam's Brutal Shooting
Five days ago, a horrific video emerged of a man in rural Assam protesting his eviction, being shot, killed and brutalised by the police and an official photographer. A 12-year-old boy was also killed in the firing and 9 cops were injured. As outrage mounted, instead of seeking accountability from the police, the Chief Minister and the BJP went on the offensive making a series of claims that appeared to pass the blame to the protesters, saying they were incited by outsiders. This, as not a single policeman has been probed or held to account so far.
