Release Of Bilkis Bano Case Convicts Poses A Big Question
The release of the eleven convicts in the Bilkis Bano gangrape case earlier this week under a special remission policy of the Gujarat government poses a serious question. The updated 2014 policy of Gujarat said those convicted of murder with rape are not to be released under the policy. The Centre had published guidelines for a special remission policy this June which too said rape convicts are not to be considered for release.
