The Army dismissed the allegations as "hilarious" and part of an immature political stunt. However, the controversy escalated after NCP leader Hasnat Abdullah alleged that a 'refined' Awami League was being prepared to re-enter politics under India's influence, stirring protests at Dhaka University. Thousands of NCP supporters rallied, calling for a post-revolution Bangladesh where military interference in politics would not be tolerated.
