A day after the Uttar Pradesh government accused former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav of leaving his palatial official bungalow in a shambles, the controversy swelled. Mr Yadav vacated the house a few days ago after the Supreme Court ordered last month that former chief ministers of the state could not keep government bungalows for life. The Adityanath government opened the house to the media to see the mess they claim the Akhilesh Yadav family left behind. Stung by the bungalow row, Mr Yadav said he was ready to sacrifice a few seats for BSP to have a working grand alliance that would keep the BJP out of power in 2019.
