Lilavati Hospital Mumbai | The Trust that runs Mumbai's prestigious Lilavati Hospital has alleged that funds to the tune of Rs 1,200 crore has been siphoned off by its former trustees. The Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust claims the total amount misappropriated, spread over the years, is around Rs 2,100 crore. The first FIR was filed in July 2024, but allegations of embezzlement date back to 2001. The hospital has even gone to court to recover the funds. On March 7, the Trust filed a fresh complaint with the Bandra police and a formal one with the Enforcement Directorate, alleging that the lack of funds has affected the services provided to thousands of patients at the hospital each day.
