Rumour caused Himachal temple stampede
Over 140 people are dead and 230 injured, mainly women and children in the stampede at the Naina Devi temple in Bilaspur. The stampede was set off by a rumour that there was a landslide on the hill on which the temple is located. People started running downhill and ran into a crowd of people coming up the temple path.
Some tried to jump the railing, which soon broke and some people slipped over the side.
