Russian President Vladimir Putin today announced a special "military operation" to protect Donbas, the separatist-held region in eastern Ukraine. Delivering an emergency address, Putin said the operation has been launched to demilitarise the country. The statement came hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine has not posed and will not pose a threat to Russia. Defending the statement of President Putin, Russia Representative at UN said that the operations declared by the President are to protect the people of Ukraine who have been suffering for years. Russia aims to de-genocide Ukraine.
