Several Indian students who came from Ukraine are on their way home from eastern Poland. Many of them reached Poland with immense difficulty as Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities continue. Arpit Rai, who was studying in the capital Kyiv, told NDTV, "It was very difficult to reach here. The train was delayed and there was a blackout." Another student, Dhiraj, said he was at the border for six days. Trisha, a medical student, said she spent a night in a bunker and three nights at the border. "An NGO and the embassy helped us once we reached Poland," she said. Three more students, who came from Kharkiv, said it was probably the worst-affected area. They walked for 12-13 km. "We were beaten up by the police…The cab drivers asked for $200. Some asked for money to stay in bunkers," a student told NDTV after reaching Poland. The students said they are happy to be in Poland now. "We are alive," one of them said.
