In a chilly winter night, wearing a thin cotton sari with no money and marked with bruises all over her head, Amita Pal was dropped off three days ago outside a centre for senior citizens. At 80, Amita's memory fails her at the most critical of moments, but the volunteers looking after her are trying to make sense of her story.
