JNU professor Mridula Mukherjee said she got information of the attack around 6:30pm on Sunday when messages started coming in. The historian and professor said she, along with other teachers and students, was inside the campus when the attack happened. A group of 50-60 people started attacking a peaceful crowd gathered inside the campus after which people started running for their lives, including teachers, the professor added. After that some masked people with iron rods, stones and sticks made their way towards hostels to attack students. She claimed that there was no police or security in the campus when the attack happened.
