On the issue of reopening of schools amid the COVIDs-19 pandemic, several states have been considering and holding meetings to figure out when exactly it will be safe to reopen schools. The state governments seem to be wary considering children have not been vaccinated yet and the Covid curve is not flattening. The Maharashtra government announced on August 10 that schools can reopen from August 17, but a day later, a cabinet decision was taken to put that resolution on hold after the Covid task force voiced opposition. Also, now there is a Covid scare in schools after dozens of children were found positive in Himachal Pradesh, besides neighbouring Punjab and Haryana. In Delhi, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia discussed plans to reopen with school principals. In Rajasthan, schools for Classes 9-12 and other educational institutes will reopen on September 1.
