"I felt suffocated, I couldn't sleep at night seeing farmers die every day," said actor Nana Patekar in a moving interview to NDTV. Mr Patekar, who has now stepped in to help farmers in the killing fields of Marathwada, said it was "heart-wrenching to meet the widows of farmers sitting expressionless" and that his "life's aim now is to help distressed farmers". He urged people to not only help monetarily, but also "do shram daan and experience how farmers live". Warning that farmer suicides can lead to a revolution, he said that these suicides were "first step towards anarchy" and "if a farmer can kill himself, can he not kill others too".
