Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said India will become a $3 trillion economy in the current year itself. "NDA government in its first term set the ball rolling for new India with strident commitment to fiscal consolidation. It is now the sixth largest economy. Five years ago it was 11th," the finance minister said while presenting the Union Budget for 2019-20 in Parliament. Ms Sitharaman, 59, is only the second women in the history of independent India to present the Union Budget. Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was the first and only women till now to have presented the Union Budget.
