Anasuya hated scavenging. Her mom did it. Her husband did it. The family she was married into, expected her to take up the job too. But she refused to clean dry toilets with her husband. The protest didn't go down well with her in-laws. They ill-treated her and her husband even resorted to violence. But Anasuya was determined. She went back to her parent's home and declared she would only return to her husband only if he left this demeaning job. Her husband finally relented, but they both were thrown out of their house. Anasuya's determination never waned and with support from her husband, she found a way to not just survive but also find a livelihood.
