The Election Centre: Sidelining Varun Gandhi Stokes BJP Rebellion?
As the BJP's big guns flood Uttar Pradesh, one man is missing: Varun Gandhi, an MP and someone who was seen as a potential Chief Ministerial face but has now decided to sit out these elections. The BJP may argue this is in keeping with their plan of building a campaign around the enduring appeal of Prime Minster Modi but they also appear to have denied seats to a significant number of Varun Gandhi loyalists and that in turn is stoking a series of mutinies for the party.
