Siddaramaiah Meets Karnataka Governor, Stakes Claim To Form Government
Congress's Chief Minister choice Siddaramaiah met the Karnataka Governor today to stake claim to form the government. The oath taking ceremony will take place on Saturday. This comes after Congress came up with a win-win formula following five-day suspense on Karnataka's next Chief Minister. Siddaramaiah will be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka and DK Shivakumar as his deputy. But the Chief Minister post is has not entirely gone away from Mr Shivakumar. Sources say there is a rough understanding of a 50:50 power sharing, under which Mr Shivakumar can succeed Mr Siddaramaiah halfway through the term, depending on the party's performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
