Admiral RS Shrawat (Retd.) from Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation, said that strict laws are needed because child marriage is a serious issue that goes beyond marriage - it disempowers children and is an obstruction to their fundamental rights. He quoted the example of Assam, where the state has implemented strict laws against the Child Marriage and rehabilitation of the victims of the act.
