Silambam is a self-defence martial art played with a cane or a stick. It was practised in neighbouring Tamil Nadu as early as the 4th century BC. Silambam had even become part of the ancient military. However, as modern sports captured the public's attention, it lost its allure.Now the sport is making a comeback.
