Sonia Gandhi: Congress's Last Hope?
When Rahul Gandhi announced that he would step down as Congress chief in the aftermath of the devastating Lok Sabha election results under his leadership, many within his own party thought they would be able to convince him and there will be no crisis. Mr Gandhi refused, and thus began the over two-month search for a successor. The brief was simple: get a non-Gandhi chief for the Congress. But the search for a non-Gandhi chief ended with a Gandhi - 72-year-old Sonia Gandhi as the interim chief. Congress leader AK Antony has reportedly expressed his reservation at this decision. Is the Congress unable to move beyond a Gandhi family leadership?
