Sonia Gandhi Gives Up Rae Bareli Lok Sabha Seat For Rajya Sabha Membership
Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi informed voters of her Rae Bareli constituency in Uttar Pradesh that she would not contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Mrs Gandhi is set to be nominated from Rajasthan to the Rajya Sabha. Speculation is rife that Mrs Gandhi's daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra could contest from the Rae Bareli constituency this time. Remember this is the first time that Sonia Gandhi would be entering the Rajya Sabha. She will also be the second member of the Gandhi family to do so after Indira Gandhi, who was a member of the Upper House from 1964 to 1967. Here's a report.
