Lokesh Nara, the General Secretary of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and son of Chandrababu Naidu, who has been credited for the party's huge victory in the Andhra Pradesh elections, spoke to NDTV on Andhra Pradesh's demand for special status to the state. He said the bifurcation of Andhra was done against the wishes of the people of the state. His father had walked out of the NDA in 2018 over the Centre not agreeing to giving special status. "For 62 years together, all of us developed Hyderabad. It was the economic capital of Andhra Pradesh before the bifurcation. And certain commitments were made during the bifurcation. And that's something we asked for to be fulfilled. Our partnership with the NDA before the elections was unconditional. After the elections it remains unconditional. We are here to work for the state and the nation. Strong states make a strong nation," Mr Lokesh said.
