National Wrestler Dies Of Electrocution, Government Promises Compensation
National-level wrestler Vishal Kumar Verma died on Wednesday after being electrocuted at the Jaipal Singh Stadium in Ranchi. The 22-year-old was trying to clear rain water using a water pump from the office of the Jharkhand State Wrestling Association. "The boy went to the office when it was flooded. No one knows how he got elecrocuted. Other boys saw him lying in the water, they took him to the hospital and he died on the way," said Bhola Nath Singh, President Jharkhand Wrestling Association. His sister is now asking for a government job as Vishal was the sole bread-winner. For the time-being, the government has promised a compensation of Rs 1 lakh.
