Our big focus tonight is the downward spiral in Sri Lanka. The country is in the midst of a severe economic crisis, a crisis that has left the island nation short of food and fuel. The distress is so bad that people are now rising in protest. There have been massive power cuts, for virtually the entire day. Faced with angry citizens out on the streets, Sri Lanka's entire cabinet resigned yesterday. People have come out on the streets despite the imposition of emergency and curfew. While all ministers resigned, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa remain in office. The President has invited all parties in Parliament to accept ministerial positions, and work with him to find solutions to Sri Lanka's economic crisis. He says the crisis is because of 'several economic factors and global developments'. Except that he has much to be blamed for.
